Saddleridge is a residential neighbourhood in the north-east quadrant of Calgary. The homes in Saddle Ridge are mostly single-family starter and move-up homes. It is to the north of 80th Avenue NE and will stretch northwards toward the planned Airport Road (to be completed by 2010). The neighbourhood is close to the airport and adjacent to the new McKnight-Westwinds LRT station on 36 Street.The community has a number of parks, including one with a pond. Saddleridge is only a kilometre from the 40-acre Prairie Winds Park, in neighboring Castleridge. A 17-acre joint-use park, east of Martindale Boulevard on Martin Crossing Park, will include basketball courts, ball diamonds, an outdoor hockey rink, soccer fields, and a community centre.The Saddle Ridge community association is located in a Quonset hut. The centre is used by four Sikh dance troops, highland dancers, Boy Scouts and a karate club. A seniors club also regularly meets to play cards and engage in other activities. At the rear of the centre is a large gas barbeque that can feed as many as 300 people. It is used for a variety of community events throughout the year. Other special events are hosted by the community association as well, including an annual Christmas festival.
