Whitehorn is a residential neighbourhood in the north-east quadrant of Calgary. It is bordered by 36th Street to the West,52 Street to the East, 32nd Avenue to the South and Mcknight Blvd To the North. The community is primarily low density residential with a mix of single family homes, townhouses, and low-rise rental apartments. The area has a number of large parks. The Village Square Leisure Centre, with various facilities including a wave pool, is just south of the community. The new Prairie Winds Park, with an outdoor pool, is to the north of the community. There are a number of restaurants (mostly chains) along 32nd Avenue, east of 36th Street NE. Movie theatres are close-by at London Towne Square and Marlborough. The city-owned McCall Lake golf course is west on 32nd Avenue, just before Deerfoot Trail.The Whitehorn community association offers a variety of programs to appeal to its diverse residents. Muslim groups, the Ismali 250th Scout Troop, the Immigrant Women’s Association and the East Indian Dholma Garaba Dance Troup all use the community centre as a meeting place. The centre also hosts Girl Guide and Boy Scout meetings, as well as craft fairs, karate classes, and dances.
